U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn became the latest member of Florida’s congressional delegation to back U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds for Governor.
The Panama City Republican praised his House colleague as he became the 16th member of Florida’s House delegation in Donalds’ corner. Dunn noted President Donald Trump also endorsed the Naples Republican.
“Byron Donalds will be an outstanding America First Governor for all Floridians. I have seen first-hand Byron’s commitment to commonsense conservative leadership and his ability to get things done,” Dunn said.
“Byron will stand up for our veterans, support law enforcement, and ensure that every Floridian feels safe and has the opportunity to live the American Dream. I’m proud to support my friend Byron Donalds for Governor, a tireless ally of President Trump’s MAGA agenda.”
Dunn represents Florida’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes Tallahassee and several conservative communities in the Panhandle and Big Bend.
The announcement came after Donalds’ gubernatorial campaign revealed he had raised more than $31 million for the race.
Donalds boasts endorsements from House leadership, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, House Republican Leadership Chair Elise Stefanik, Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer.
Within the Florida congressional delegation, Dunn’s endorsement follows similar support from U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, a former Governor, and from U.S. Reps. Aaron Bean, Vern Buchanan, Kat Cammack, Marío Diaz-Balart, Randy Fine, Mike Haridopolos, Scott Franklin, Laurel Lee, Anna Paulina Luna, Brian Mast, Cory Mills, John Rutherford, María Elvira Salazar and Daniel Webster.
On top of that, 15 Florida Sheriffs have also endorsed Donalds.
Right now, Donalds faces former House Speaker Paul Renner and seven other Republicans in a GOP Primary. Democrat David Jolly and four other Democrats are running. Speculation continues whether another major Republican, such as Lt. Gov. Jay Collins or First Lady Casey DeSantis, will also enter the race.
