Following an evening of inspiration and innovation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami (BBBS Miami) officially celebrated the grand opening of the Allen Family Teen Tech Center, 550 NW 42 Ave., on Thursday, Mar. 26. In partnership with The Matt and Lisa Allen Family Foundation, the center serves as the first of its kind across all Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliates nationwide.
The opening reception welcomed community leaders and tech enthusiasts to tour the transformative space, which is designed to provide “Littles” (mentees) with free, year-round access to professional-grade technology. As a member of The Clubhouse Network in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab, the center offers a diverse curriculum — ranging from 3D printing and robotics to a fully equipped music production studio and flight simulator.
The center’s impact already is being felt as students began demonstrating live projects, including graphic design and VR exploration, during the event.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami is the premier youth-mentoring organization in South Florida, serving thousands of local children each year. By pairing “Littles” with “Bigs,” the organization helps youth reach full potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships.
The Matt and Lisa Allen Family Foundation support underserved youth across South Florida by providing access to education, healthcare, mentorship, and other resources needed to thrive.
