FORT PIERCE — A 67-year-old Vero Beach man is in the St. Lucie County Jail, charged with burglary and criminal mischief, stemming from a reported burglary at a business in the 14800 block of Indrio Road, Fort Pierce on April 13, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office reports.

On April 13, at about 11:45 a.m., deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Operations Bureau responded to a reported burglary at that address. They found a shattered window and a significant amount of blood inside the business, according to reports.

Deputies were able to identify a potential suspect, later identified as Brent Wilson Chapman, who was reportedly living in the area at the time. Investigation confirmed the suspect’s alleged involvement as deputies were able to link him and his vehicle to the crime scene.

Chapman was subsequently taken into custody and charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling while unarmed and criminal mischief (damage to property over $200 and under $1,000). He is being held in the St. Lucie County Jail on no bond as of April 14, according to jail records.
