COCOA BEACH, FL (WFSB) – Two people died from being caught in a rip current in Cocoa Beach, FL, fire officials confirmed.
The victims were identified as a 42-year-old man from Connecticut and a 34-year-old woman from Ohio.
Their names were not released.
The Cocoa Beach Fire Department said it responded to 4th Street South around 1 p.m. on Tuesday for a water emergency.
Firefighters said they found four victims in the water and immediately began life-saving measures on two of them.
The man and woman were transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, but were ultimately pronounced dead.
Firefighters said preliminary information indicated that the incident was related to rip current.
