Record Store Day returns this Saturday, April 18, bringing vinyl collectors, music fans, and local artists alike together across St. Petersburg and Tampa. Independent record stores are celebrating with exclusive releases, live performances, and all-day events.
Vinyl has been undergoing a resurgence in the region lately, with more and more spots focused on playing records as part of the experience. Ahead of Record Store Day, we’re celebrating the spots that make it possible for bars and homes alike to fill their space with sound. Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect at three of the area’s record stores:
MOJO Books & Records (Tampa)
MOJO Books & Records will be a must-visit for serious collectors looking for a deep selection of official RSD releases.
What’s Happening:
Open 8 AM – 8 PM (earlier than usual)
Stocks nearly all official RSD titles, often in larger quantities
Traditional crate-digging experience with a strong collector focus
What to Know:
All sales are in-person only (no holds or pre-orders)
Limit 1 per customer per title on RSD exclusives
Some releases will sell out quickly, so arrive early if you want high-demand items
Still worth going later in the day for remaining inventory
Banana Records (St. Pete)
What’s Happening:
Live performances from local artists throughout the day:
Dames, Kneedz, April Showers, Little Giver, Spanish Needles
Local vendors set up in and around the store
Pop-up coffee cart from Brue Boy and eats by Bellies Street food
Event runs from 9 AM – 7 PM
RSD exclusive vinyl releases available (first come, first served)
Store will announce available titles on April 17

No holds or pre-orders on RSD titles
Expect a steady crowd all day, not just early morning
Great spot if you want both music and a social atmosphere
Daddy Kool Records (St. Pete)
Daddy Kool Records will be a full-scale event blending vinyl, live music, and special guest appearances at The Factory St. Pete.

5:00 PM – Beach Terror (Indie Psych)
6:30 PM – April Showers (Indie Soul/R&B)
