TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The City of Tampa is getting ready to welcome K-pop icons BTS ahead of their three-show stop at Raymond James Stadium this month.

The city’s bridges and Old City Hall will be illuminated with purple lights from April 26 – 29.

“All 3 shows will be DYNAMITE, and they couldn’t have picked a better city for the first North American stop on their world tour,” Mayor Jane Castor wrote in a Facebook post, which featured a video showing her putting on purple beads and sunglasses and pointing at the now-purple building, using audio of the BTS hit “Butter.”

The color purple has become associated with the group and its fans, known as ARMY, after BTS member V coined the phrase “I purple you” at an event 10 years ago. Fans say purple is a symbol of the admiration BTS and the ARMY have for each other.
