TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida’s special session has been pushed back.
The session, which was originally scheduled to begin Monday, will now see lawmakers convene on Tuesday, April 28.
Governor Ron DeSantis issued the proclamation Wednesday evening pushing the special session back a week. It will now extend no later than Friday, May 1.
Lawmakers are headed back to Tallahassee to redraw congressional districts. They will also be discussing protections from artificial intelligence and expanding medical freedom.
Florida Politics:
Both the AI Bill of Rights and medical freedom measures passed in the Senate, but died in the House during regular session.
Notably, Florida lawmakers have still not passed a budget.
DeSantis said the budget issue needs to be addressed quickly and hinted, on Tuesday, that he would force lawmakers to pass a budget soon if legislative leaders don’t.
