FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Fort Pierce police made a shocking discovery while searching a home, finding five bins each containing a dead dog.
According to the Fort Pierce Police Department, at about 2:20 p.m. Thursday, officers assisted Animal Control after receiving a suspicious inquiry about cremating dogs.
Officers responded to a home on Georgia Avenue, where, in addition to the dead dogs, they found nine cats and two live dogs inside. Police say another dog was found outside in the backyard suffering from an injury.

During the investigation, police said one of the suspects, Wynter Dodson, 20, attempted to hide a dog in the backyard. Dodson now faces a charge of obstructing an investigation.
Officers said that, based on the condition of the home and animals, as well as evidence collected at the scene, they arrested a second suspect, Thalia Flores, on six counts of animal cruelty.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, the police department said.
