October 27, 2025 – Jeffry Knight, accused of recklessly driving his boat into the Clearwater Ferry in April, was in court Monday for a pretrial hearing. Judge Pat Siracusa heard from Knight’s attorney, Kevin Hayslett, and from a state prosecutor, on evidentiary matters. Siracusa set the next pretrial hearing for Jan. 12, at which time, he said, he hoped to determine a start date for Knight’s trial. A ferry passenger died at the scene, with 10 others injured. Knight, 62, was arraigned in August on eight felony counts, including leaving the scene of a boating accident involving death and serious bodily injury. He has pleaded not guilty.
