SR-417 traffic at a standstill in Oviedo near Lake Jessup
MEAGHAN ERIC GETTING ANOTHER CHECK. WE ARE MONITORING SOME BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING IN OVIEDO STATE ROAD 417 NORTHBOUND. MANY OF THOSE LANES ARE SHUT DOWN HERE. THIS IS TRAVELING IN BETWEEN RED BUG LAKE ROAD HEADING TOWARDS LAKE JESUP. YOU CAN SEE HERE JUST THIS WALL OF TRAFFIC. WE’RE NOW IN THE BUSIEST TRAVEL TIME OF THE MORNING. THERE WERE TWO SEPARATE CRASHES REPORTED HERE. THE FIRST ONE HAPPENED AFTER 6:00. THE SECOND ONE HAPPENED JUST AT THE TOP OF SEVEN. SO THAT IS WHY THERE’S ALL THESE DELAYS. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, TRAFFIC IS ACTUALLY MOVING THROUGH HERE, BUT JUST A VERY SLOW PACE. AND WE DO KNOW BASED ON THE 417 THAT THERE’S REALLY NOT A GOOD DETOUR AROUND THIS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO NEED TO TRAVEL OVER LAKE JESUP. SO PLAN AHEAD FOR THOSE DELAYS. I WOULD ADD AN EXTRA 25 MINUTES OR SO IF YOU’RE TRAVELING HERE AS A PART OF THAT MORNING DRIVE. I-FOUR. WE ARE STILL NICE AND QUIET, STILL SEEING SOME FOGGY SPOTS FOR THAT MORNING START, BUT YOU CAN SEE HERE NO CRASHES ALONG I-4. HEAVIER TRAFFIC THOUGH, STARTING TO TRAVEL WESTBOUND TOWARDS COLONIAL. A crash on SR-417 is causing long back-ups near Red Bug Lake Road.The Florida Highway Patrol says there were two separate crashes in the area.
