Two suspects in Tampa shooting caught in Parrish

PARRISH, Fla. (WWSB) – Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies apprehended two men Thursday wanted for attempted murder in Tampa, Tampa Police said Friday.

Tampa Police say on April 16, officers received a report of a shooting in the 3600 block of Machado Street.

They found two males, an 18-year-old and a 15-year-old, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The injuries were not fatal, police said in a news release.

Investigators identified two suspects as 18-year-old Jaquez Lawson and a 17-year-old. Detectives believe the shooting was a targeted attack.

The suspects’ vehicle was tracked to a home under construction in Parrish, in Manatee County. Tampa Police contacted the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Deputies took both suspects into custody. Two firearms were recovered at the scene and taken into evidence, police said.

Lawson has been charged with attempted murder. The 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and being a minor in possession of a firearm.

Both suspects were taken to the Manatee County Jail pending transport back to Hillsborough County.
