Kate Spade New York took over the Tri Delta UCF sorority house on Saturday, bringing the UCF Panhellenic together for a spring fling event.
During the event, the company promoted its Duo bag, giving attendees tickets to redeem a free Duo Mini Shoulder Bag and providing a bingo card, which gave people who got bingo a chance to win a full-size Duo Crossbody Bag and other accessories.
The event followed a fresh, spring aesthetic, with spring-themed mocktails, a Posies flower truck for attendees to make DIY flower bouquets and flower decorations throughout the Tri Delta house.
Danielle Macaluso, lead of communications, social media and influencer marketing for Kate Spade, said the brand was inspired by UCF’s strong community, especially among Greek life. She said that Tri Delta was the perfect reflection of their consumers and brand and that they really know how to bring the sororities together.
“We were really excited to come here today and really build relationships, get to know these Gen Z college girls and also get their feedback on the brand and what they want, what really motivates them to shop for handbags and fashion in general,” Macaluso said. “And we hope to be able to build on this experience and partner with other sororities at other schools in the future.”

Kate Spade was established in 1993 because founder Kate Brosnahan Spade was frustrated that she couldn’t find a fashionable utilitarian handbag. Today, the fashion company promotes the Duo collection as redefining versatility.
The brand has done a great job of staying true to who they are while also continuing to modernize, Macaluso said. Macaluso also mentioned model and reality TV star Kendall Jenner is showing off the Duo bag this weekend at Coachella.
Peyton Sanchez, junior communications major, put the event together with the help of her mother. She said she loved getting a peek into her mom’s work and that it’s been a great experience for her since this is what she wants to do after college.
Sanchez shared her thoughts on the Duo mini, calling it “every girl’s dream bag.”
“Whether you’re going out or you’re wearing it day to day, shopping, or going to class, it’s perfect,” Sanchez said.
Member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Arianna Peters, junior biomedical sciences major, said this event was especially exciting because the company’s founder, Spade, was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
“It’s a really cute event, it brings the whole Panhellenic community together and it just shows the sisterhood within our chapters and with each other,” Peters said.
