The light-up pavement in Celestial Park at Epic Universe has been capped less than a year after the park opened.
Epic Universe Ground Lighting Goes Dark
On our last visit, we noticed that the lights embedded in the pavement around Astronomica and the Constellation Carousel were not only not illuminated, but also completely covered with metal caps.
Tom remarked in his recent Epic Universe vlog that it appears that Universal “has just given up” on attempting to fix the ground lighting effects, comparing it to EPCOT’s ongoing struggles with the same problem.
Theme park photographer bioreconstruct also posted a photo on April 17 showing the metal caps over the lights still intact, verifying that this is most likely a permanent installation:
Much of the pavement lighting in Constellation Plaza has been removed and capped.

EPCOT’s Pavement Problems

Similar issues with light-up pavement have been persistent in EPCOT’s World Celebration Gardens since the area opened in December 2023. Crews continue to “fix” the light-up pavement in World Celebration Gardens at EPCOT with screws and stanchions holding down the light strips.
