ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was arrested in connection with what police described as a robbery with drug overtones that left one man dead.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at the 800 block of 14th Avenue South on Wednesday at 11:49 p.m.
Investigators believe that John Knight, 48, and Ronnie Dials, 56, entered the duplex in an attempt to rob a resident.
Police say there was an altercation, and Dials and the resident were shot. Dials died at the scene, and the resident is still being treated at the hospital as of this report.
Knight was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The investigation is ongoing.
