TAMPA, Fla. — An American Airlines flight bound for Philadelphia was forced to make an emergency return to Tampa International Airport on Tuesday due to a maintenance issue.

According to the airline, American Airlines Flight 3010 departed Tampa before crew members identified a mechanical concern and made the decision to return as a precaution. Our 10 Tampa Bay News weather camera at Tampa International Airport showed multiple emergency vehicles positioned along the runway as the aircraft prepared to land, a standard safety measure for such situations.

The plane landed safely at TPA and taxied to the gate under its own power. No injuries were reported.

In a statement, American Airlines said, “American Airlines flight 3010 with service from Tampa (TPA) to Philadelphia (PHL) returned to TPA due to a maintenance issue. The flight landed safely in TPA and taxied to the gate under its own power. Customers will board a new aircraft to PHL shortly.”
