A 76-year-old Pinellas Park man died after losing control of his three-wheeled motorcycle on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The man was riding a Spyder motorcycle northbound near milepost 12 about 12:45 p.m. April 5 when he swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle, according to FHP. He lost control, struck a guardrail on the outside shoulder and was ejected into the northbound lane, troopers said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The other vehicle did not stop and has not been identified, FHP said.
The crash closed the bridge’s northbound lanes for more than four hours until about 5:15 p.m., authorities said.
