DELAND, Fla. (April 21, 2026) – University of South Florida baseball is now 2-0 against Stetson this season, defeating them at home earlier in March and on the road tonight. The Bulls (28-12, 7-8 American) beat the Hatters (15-25, 6-11 ASUN), 6-5.

The Bulls started the game in full attack mode, scoring in the top of the first. Ryan Pruitt led the game off with a walk and advanced to second on a groundout from Jack Lutz. Lance Trippel hit an infield single to third base, extending his reached base streak to 24 games. Pruitt advanced to third on the play and scored when the next batter up, Rafael Betancourt, grounded out to first.

The attack didn’t stop there, as three more came across in the top of the second for the Bulls. The inning was led off with a walk again, this time for Bradke Lohry. Jackson Mirza hit a single to center field to put Lohry on second. They would both advance on a sacrifice bunt laid down by first baseman Joey Brenczewski. Jacob Green would reach on a fielder’s choice that would score Lohry and advance Mirza to third. He scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Pruitt, his seventh of the year. Green went to second on a throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt and scored when Lutz singled through the left side of the infield. South Florida would lead 4-0 at the end of the second.

The Hatters would cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third. Juan De la Cruz would walk and advance to third when Landon Russel hit a double to left field. They both scored on an RBI single up the middle from Renzo Gonzalez. The score would be 4-2 Bulls, headed to the fourth.

Scoring continued in the fifth inning for both teams, first in the top half of the inning for South Florida. Trippel singled to lead off the inning, and Jake Kulikowski followed him with a pinch-hit walk. Lohry would also draw a walk to load the bases. Brenczewski hit a single to right field to score both Trippel and Kulikowski.

In the bottom half of the inning, Landen Yorek entered the game to pitch for the Bulls, striking out one and walking two. Nolan Bernard entered the game in relief of Yorek, and Gonzalez would lay down a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners to second and third. Yohann Dessureault singled to left field, scoring Jack Harley and Russell. The score would be 6-4, ending the fifth.

The lead would be cut down to one in the bottom half of the sixth. Foster Apple doubled down the right field line to start the inning for the Hatters. Corey Robinson laid down a bunt to advance Apple to third. He would score when Harley laid down a sacrifice bunt, making the score 6-5 South Florida, which would stick for the remainder of the game.

Will Allen made his third start of the season on the bump for South Florida. He threw 2.0 innings, recording two strikeouts. Dominic Pontbriant, Landed Yorek, Nolan Bernard, Ethan Sutton, and even Friday starter Edwin Alicea all made appearances for the Bulls. Pontbriant earned the win and is now 3-0 on the season.
