Some members of the Florida State women’s soccer team and coaching staff visited the White House on Tuesday as President Donald Trump honored the Seminoles 2025 national title-winning squad.

Players Claire Rain and Peyton McGovern, alongside assistant coach Micah Bledsoe, joined FSU Athletic Director Michael Alford, President Richard McCullough, and Board of Trustees’ Chairman Peter Collins were in attendance.

Trump hosted over 100 collegiate national champions at the White House on Tuesday, including Oklahoma State men’s golf, Texas A&M women’s volleyball, Wake Forest men’s tennis, and Georgia women’s tennis, among others.

“They just clinched their fifth national title and back-to-back championships for the second time in program history,” Trump said of FSU in a press conference. “That’s amazing,”

While the Seminoles have achieved dynasty status, FSU has not won back-to-back championships. They won in 2023 and in 2025. The team was knocked out in the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2024. The Seminoles, also, have never won national titles in back-to-back seasons in program history, despite Trump saying it’s the “second time” they’ve done so.

But they have reigned supreme in FSU athletics.

The Florida State women’s soccer program clinched its third national championship in five seasons and fifth overall with a dramatic December 1-0 win over No. 1 seed Stanford in Kansas City. The No. 3 seed Seminoles added to their national title runs of 2014, 2018, 2021 and 2023.

The national title is the 20th overall across FSU athletics.

“Congratulations to all of you. That’s a fantastic job. Really amazing,” Trump said, calling out Rain and McGovern by name during the press conference.

Video of the event shows Trump shaking the hands of the FSU administrators and soccer players while the Florida State fight song plays in the background. Afterward, he is handed a custom FSU soccer jersey with a 47 on it, which he posed with for a picture with the visiting Seminoles.

Seminoles head coach Brian Pensky wasn’t pictured, and neither were the 10 players who signed professional deals following the season. FSU beat Stanford 1-0 in December to claim the program’s fifth national title, and second under Pensky, thanks to a late goal from Wrianna Hudson.
