Jacksonville School District 117 has cancelled classes for Jacksonville Middle School today due to an active crime scene near the school. District administrators have been told by police that the situation is dangerous. The other JSD 117 schools will hold classes as normal.
The Jacksonville Police Department has confirmed a large presence in the area, but could not release anymore details about the situation at this time.
