Firefighters entered the water and searched the area with a specialized sonar device called AquaEye, designed to locate victims in low-visibility water.

The Cape Coral Police Department deployed a drone to assist in searching the lake’s surface and shoreline.

No one was found during the search.

All Cape Coral firefighters are rescue swimmers, and 75 are divers who have advanced training and use equipment such as dry suits and full-face mask communication.

On average, the Cape Coral Fire Department responds to at least two dive calls a month.
