Photographer @bioreconstruct on X has shared photos of painting progress on Hogwarts Castle in Universal Islands of Adventure. Work began on the Wizarding World icon in March. A few days ago, we noticed a pale gray shade on the castle. Bio’s new photos confirm this gray is a base coat, not the final color.

Scaffolding and scrim came down from this wall of the castle, revealing a textured, varied look similar to the castle’s original appearance.

Two yellow arrows on the right in the above photo point at holes in the walls where the scaffolding was secured. The holes will eventually be filled and painted over. Another arrow points at an unfinished Hogwarts crest.

Like other sections of the castle, the crest was repainted with a base coat: a pale yellow instead of gray.

This detail show shows all the artificial weathering applied to the castle wall, including some shades of green.

These two photos highlight the differences between the finished and unfinished areas. Yellow arrows point at the spots where themed paint meets gray primer. The back of a tower has visible stone detailing.

This wall next to a tower also has new shades of paint showcasing the stones. With more paint, the stones will blend into each other more without looking like one solid wall.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey remains open during the castle’s refurbishment.
