Robert Alan Blazina
OBITUARY
Robert Blazina passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at Cape Coral Hospital, surrounded by his children and partner. Born in Berwyn, Illinois to Mildred Simik and William Blazina, Bob was drafted into the Army and served as a military policeman during the Vietnam War. In his younger years he traveled widely and raced stock cars at Santa Fe Speedway. He ran his own business in Illinois and served as an alderman in Countryside before relocating to Fort Myers Beach, where he owned and operated the Azure Tides motel. He was a member of the Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Bob was previously married to Elizabeth Hoekstra, with whom he had three children, and later to Dee Blazina, who preceded him in death, as did his parents and his siblings Vincent and Sylvia. He is survived by his partner Bernard Donohue; his children Jennifer, Katherine and David; his grandchildren Hayden, Robbie, Isla, Ben, Cam and Anders; his nephew Vincent; and friends in Cape Coral, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
