PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport officials are anticipating their busiest summer yet.
The weekends will be particularly busy. Airport leaders estimate there will be about 120 commercial operations each Saturday and Sunday.
They expect to see about 15,000 people go through the airport on a Saturday.
They say the staff is ready for the season, including navigating ongoing terminal construction.
“Our challenge is going to be the curb is shorter, so there’s going to be a lot of activity on the curb, and we’re going to keep the traffic moving,” said Parker McClellan, the executive director of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. “It’s one of those where you have to be more aggressive, so it may not always be with a smiling face, but we’re going to try very hard to keep a smiling face, and keep everybody as happy as they can.”
Airport officials say to check your flight’s status before heading to the airport, and to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight.
