It was a warm and unforgettable night in Tampa, Florida, where generosity and compassion took center stage at the Shepherd of Egypt Foundation’s Gala Dinner.

I had the honor of hosting this remarkable event, which reaffirmed a simple, powerful truth: goodness is not just a word. It is something lived through action, commitment, and care for others.

The Shepherd of Egypt Foundation is a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting vulnerable communities across Egypt, providing dignity, assistance, and opportunity through a range of impactful programs. These include housing development, mobile health clinics, small-business initiatives, social well-being services, educational support, spiritual development, and emergency aid through City of Hope and urgent-case interventions. Together, these efforts address immediate needs while creating sustainable, long-term solutions to poverty and hardship.

The program began with a moving tribute, as attendees stood for the national anthems of the United States and Egypt, an opening moment that filled the room with pride and joy and resonated deeply with everyone present.

Throughout the evening, guests were given a closer look at the foundation’s impact through a series of short videos highlighting its charitable work across Egypt. These glimpses into real lives changed and communities supported brought a powerful sense of purpose to the celebration.

At the heart of the organization is Judge Amir Ramzy, whose leadership reflects sincerity and dedication. As the head of the foundation, he is committed to ensuring that every contribution reaches those who need it most, setting a meaningful example in humanitarian service.

The evening was far more than a gala; it was a celebration of humanity, where art, compassion, and philanthropy converged in a powerful and inspiring way. The presence of renowned Egyptian actresses, including Elham Shahin, Hala Sedky, and Hany Ramzy, added a special dimension to the night. They traveled long distances to support the cause and spread goodness, proving that every effort and every donation can truly make a difference.

One of the most touching moments of the evening came when Elham Shaheen donated her diamond ring to the foundation. It was immediately auctioned and purchased by a family in attendance, an act of generosity that deeply moved everyone in the room and inspired even greater giving.

Also, Hala Sedky stepped forward to sponsor support for widowed families and to help build homes for those in need. Shortly after, Hany Ramzy announced his commitment to supporting underprivileged students, an act that was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from Egyptian communities in Florida and Houston.

Ramzy also highlighted the remarkable solidarity among Egyptian professionals in the United States. Doctors and pharmacists expressed a strong desire to travel to Egypt to provide medical care to underserved communities. At the same time, young Egyptian expatriates showed genuine eagerness to volunteer and take part in humanitarian efforts.

In his words, true happiness lies in planting something lasting within people, a light that reminds them goodness still exists, and that his presence in their lives is not by chance, but by purpose.

The evening’s success was also made possible by the dedication of a passionate team of volunteers. Special thanks go to Michael Basily, whose leadership and tireless efforts played a central role in delivering such a beautifully organized and memorable night.

The night concluded on a lighter, joyful note, with playful, spontaneous exchanges between the actors and the audience. These moments of humor and connection added warmth and laughter to the event, leaving guests with not only inspiration but also genuine happiness as the evening ended. In every sense, it was an extraordinary night filled with warmth, generosity, and a shared commitment to making a real and lasting impact.
