A St. Pete mother is facing charges six months after a deadly crash that killed her 2-year-old son.
An arrest affidavit says 32-year-old Alejandra Cruz Segundo is charged with aggravated child manslaughter in a crash from late October that left her son, Damian Alexander Cruz Segundo, dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened when a 34-year-old Valrico man was going eastbound on 49th Avenue North, west of 80th Street North, in a Ford F450.

State troopers said 2-year-old Damian left a nearby home without his parents knowing and walked into the path of the pickup truck before being struck.
The toddler died from his injuries at the scene of the crash, officials said.
The arrest affidavit explains that multiple witnesses claimed that Alejandra let her son and his siblings play unsupervised in the front yard next to the roadway, which is what led to Damian being hit by the truck.
“Ms. Alejandra Degundo Cruz should have known that leaving young children unsupervised to play outside in the front yard near the roadway could have caused them to get seriously hurt or killed if they entered the roadway and were struck by vehicle,” the arrest report says.
