The San Francisco Giants look to tie the only series of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.
The Tampa Bay Rays go for the season-series win against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday evening. This is the only series of the season between these interleague foes. The Giants are trying to end a four-game losing streak that has put them at the bottom of the NL West standings with a 13-19 overall record. This comes after they were swept earlier in the week by the struggling Philadelphia Phillies, who fired their manager, Rob Thomson, and then the Giants lost the opener to the Rays, 3-0. The Rays bounced back from a loss on Wednesday against the Cleveland Guardians that ended a six-game winning streak. Tampa Bay has still won seven of its last eight games and is sitting in second in the AL East. The Rays are 1.5 games behind the New York Yankees for first, with a 19-12 record. The Rays have been great at home, getting back to Tropicana Field. The Giants are still the -120 favorites to even this series on Saturday.

The Rays earned the opening victory of this series in large part thanks to Shane McClanahan, who had an awesome day on the mound. He went six scoreless innings, while giving up five hits and striking out five batters. McClanahan improved to 3-2 after the bullpen only gave up one hit over three innings. Robbie Ray fell to 2-4, going 6.1 innings for the Giants while giving up three runs. The Giants actually outhit the Rays by one, but Tampa Bay was fueled by homers from Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero to give McClanahan the run support he’d need.
The Giants are the favorites tonight because they have the distinct advantage on the mound. San Francisco will try to bounce back and tie this series by starting Landen Roupp. The righty was great in the first month of the season, posting a 5-1 record, a 2.55 ERA, and a 0.91 WHIP over 35.1 innings. The Rays will counter with Griffin Jax, who is 1-2 with a 6.35 ERA in 11.1 innings.
