Ryan and Keaton Miller, a football player and actor, try each other’s jobs for a day, highlighting that the two are more similar than you’d think.
TAMPA, Fla. — Two brothers in the Tampa Bay area are living their dreams, and while their passions seem drastically different, they are more alike than one would think.
10 Tampa Bay News Photojournalist Angela Clooney spoke with Tennessee natives Ryan and Keaton Miller, who are pursuing careers in football and acting.Â
Ryan is a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Keaton is currently starring in Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors at the Straz Center.
Clooney was able to see the brothers try each other’s passions in a special “day in the life.” Ryan put on the costume and makeup to be stage-ready, and Keaton put on the jersey and helmet.Â
“Being in the helmet and gloves, I actually feel like a football player,” Keaton said. He practiced catching footballs and ran some drills.
Then, about five miles away, Ryan got into character, even putting on the vampire fangs to learn choreography and try his hand at acting.
“Keaton tries to make it to as many games as possible, and I try to go to as many shows as possible. We just kind of grew up supporting each other,” Ryan said.Â
He said it’s been great to go to Keaton’s shows and see all the different roles he plays. Keaton said he is locked in and focused while watching the Bucs play on Sundays.Â
“You might think at first thought that it’s completely different, it’s total polar opposites. But there are a lot of similarities between sports and arts,” Keaton said. “Both take a lot of dedication to the craft.”Â
This week, Ryan will be gearing up for the Bucs to take on Monday against the Lions, after coming off a 30-12 win against the 49ers. In the meantime, Keaton will continue performing in Dracula at The Straz Center until Sunday, Oct. 26.Â
