Jacksonville Memorial Hospital will offer two sessions of its Safe Sitter course this summer for youths ages 11 to 15.
Classes will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 3 and July 1 with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day, according to the hospital.
The course is designed to equip teens and preteens to be safe and effective baby sitters.
Cost is $35, including lunch.
Training, which includes a workbook, covers lifesaving skills for which students will get hands-on practice. Role playing, games and other activities also will help participants learn how to handle everyday situations that could endanger a child, including severe weather.
A demonstration for parents will be at 2:15 p.m. each day.
Classes will meet in Meeting Rooms 2 and 3 at the hospital.
