JetBlue Airways is expanding in South Florida, unveiling new routes in and out of Fort Lauderdale and launching a status match for former Spirit Airlines loyalty travelers.
“We’re stepping up for Fort Lauderdale to ensure the availability of air service in this market,” said Marty St. George, president of JetBlue. “Our focus is simple: make it easier for customers to stay connected with the people and places that matter, while delivering the service, comfort and value they expect from JetBlue.”
JetBlue will now offer nonstop service to/from Fort Lauderdale to Barranquilla and Cali in Colombia, as well as Baltimore, Charlotte, Columbus and Indianapolis.
The airline is also adding nonstop service to cities already in its network, such as Nashville, Detroit, Houston, Chicago, and Ponce, Puerto Rico. Travelers will also see more flights to Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Raleigh-Durham, Aguadilla, Santo Domingo and Santiago de los Caballeros.
For customers displaced by Spirit’s exit, JetBlue also announced it is rolling out a status match for former loyalty members.
Eligible travelers who were Free Spirit Silver and Gold members can match into JetBlue’s Mosaic 1 or Mosaic 2 tiers, gaining access to perks such as priority boarding and no-fee flight changes.
“We know many Spirit customers are feeling the loss of the loyalty they built over time,” St. George said. “Our status match is designed to recognize that commitment and give them a seamless path forward with JetBlue — particularly in Fort Lauderdale, where we’re expanding service and offering more ways to travel with us.”
