STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — A man dressed for the beach but wanted in Indiana was arrested in Stuart after skipping out on a $93 restaurant bill — and trying to outrun police.

The Stuart Police Department (SPD) said on October 4, officers responded to a local restaurant after staff reported a dine-and-dash incident involving a $93.06 tab.

The suspect, described as wearing orange swim trunks, a long-sleeved shirt, and a white baseball cap, identified himself to employees as “Kali” and assured them he would return to settle the bill. But, he didn’t, police say.

The SPD said officers canvassed the surrounding area and found “Kali”, revealed to be Davis Robert Irvin, walking along SE Federal Highway. When questioned, he claimed he was on his way to retrieve his credit card. Officers offered him a ride to his hotel to do just that—but instead of accepting, he attempted to flee. His escape was short-lived, as officers apprehended him within seconds.
