Universal Orlando‘s Horror Make-Up Show, a longstanding attraction at Universal Studios Florida theme park, will close soon but return in a reimagined form later this year, the resort has confirmed.
The final day to see the live show in its current form is May 11. A shutdown announced in 2025 was for January was postponed.
Universal says the new version will have a “mix of classic and modern horror properties along with shockingly fun surprises — all while staying true to the comedic and irreverent spirit that guests know and love.”
The production is staged in the faux Pantages Theater in the Hollywood section of the theme park, near Mel’s Drive-In restaurant.
Among the current features of the show are instructions on how to make “movie-quality fake blood,” according to Universal’s website. The lobby displays include props and make-up effects from famed Universal Studios horror films.

The show is one of two attractions from the park’s opening day in 1990 that are still operating, although the Horror Make-Up Show has seen changes in script and movie clips over the decades. The other surviving Universal original attraction is the E.T. Adventure ride.
