• We, as a society, are caught between what is fair and equal in electoral functioning, and one where we have greasy, nonethical governments making the playing grounds to their liking. To all who know what is right, voting should be about how you wish to be treated, not by the persuasive who feel their needs go above and beyond the care of the people. That is why all leaders in state and federal government should only be able to serve two four-year terms, then be ousted. Governments, both state and federal, are just in it for themselves.

• We’ve had an infestation of Burmese pythons and now 50 sloths died from substandard care. Our legislators should ban all importation of exotic animals.

• I am ticked off that Florida-based Spirit Airlines lasted as long as it did. It only took 34 years of flight cancellations, lousy customer service and inept management to decide it was time to put a fork in it. Time to get real and stop thinking of airlines as iconic. They are businesses subject to the dictates of the marketplace. The only smart move Spirit ever made was to call it quits after deciding the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze.

The flip side

• Props to the excellent Seminole County Public Library system and especially the great staff and volunteers at my local Oxford branch. They are a top-notch group and their help is exceptional and much appreciated. Often when I visit, I find some new super-helpful service they provide. Thank you very much! You are awesome!
