POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A teenager was shot in the leg on Wednesday afternoon in Pompano Beach, according to Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel.

Deputies responded to the area of Northwest Third Avenue and 14th Street, according to Carey Codd, a spokesman for the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Nearby, Blanche Ely High School, at 1201 NW 6 Ave., was dismissed at 2:40 p.m., according to Nadine Drew, a spokeswoman for Broward County Public Schools.
