ORLANDO, Fla. (WINK) — Rapper Kodak Black is facing a drug trafficking charge after Orlando police say they found a trafficking amount of MDMA inside a bag linked to him during a late-night investigation involving reports of gunshots.
Officers with the Orlando Police Department responded to the Children’s Safety Village on Fairvilla Road around 12:47 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2025, after multiple callers reported hearing several gunshots and seeing numerous vehicles gathered in the area, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
When officers arrived, they found several people standing around two running vehicles, including a BMW SUV and a green Lamborghini SUV. Police said they immediately smelled freshly burnt cannabis coming from the BMW and later searched the vehicle after learning the driver, identified as Aven Joseph, did not have a medical marijuana card.
Inside the BMW, officers said they found 56 grams of cannabis in sealed bags and a metal container holding a pink pill substance that tested positive for MDMA using an OPD-issued NIK kit.
The affidavit states that while officers were searching the BMW, rapper Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, approached officers and watched the search. Police noted in the report that Kapri is a professional music artist who goes by the name “Kodak Black.”
Officers then searched the Lamborghini SUV after they said they observed what appeared to be a white powdery substance on a $100 bill inside the vehicle and smelled burnt cannabis. According to the affidavit, officers found a pink bag on the rear passenger seat containing a plastic bag filled with a substance later identified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as MDMA.
The affidavit states the substance had an official weight of 25.34 grams, which investigators said exceeds Florida’s trafficking threshold of 14 grams for MDMA. Police said the same pink bag also contained $37,000 in cash, numerous documents with Kapri’s name on them, a prison identification card bearing Kapri’s name and date of birth, a bottle of promethazine hydrochloride, a Frisbee and a tablet.
Investigators also referenced several Instagram posts in the affidavit, saying the pink bag, a lighter found inside the bag and a pair of scissors seen near suspected narcotics inside the Lamborghini appeared similar to items shown in posts from accounts associated with Kapri.

The affidavit states everyone at the scene denied ownership of the bag and its contents, including Kapri. However, police said Kapri attempted multiple times to have the money inside the bag turned over to him, claiming it belonged to his business, while still refusing to claim ownership of the bag itself or anything inside it.
Police ultimately requested an arrest warrant for Kapri on a charge of trafficking in MDMA greater than 14 grams but less than 200 grams.
