Commissioner Raquel Regalado is back on the virtual stump this Tuesday night, continuing her aggressive push for “The Shoreline” concept just days before the Village Council takes up the matter.
While the broad strokes of the Rickenbacker Causeway overhaul are well-known to islanders, Regalado is doubling down on the technical specifics, from the logistics of the split-level viaduct to the project’s role in the looming Bear Cut Bridge study, hoping to turn local chatter into concrete political support for the multi-million dollar vision.
Regalado will host a virtual informational meeting about “The Shoreline” concept, one which is designed to improve the traffic flow and safety issues along the Rickenbacker Causeway while enhancing beach access.
The meeting will take place from 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday, May 12.

Village officials and Council members took part in a recent workshop in which updates were provided on how the seven-step process is going to determine the feasibility of such of an expansive project.
Commissioner Regalado’s proposal includes a split-level roadway to allow vehicles to enter and exit Key Biscayne freely on a flyover (viaduct); ways to keep pedestrians and bicyclists much safer; and a possible connection to the Underline project with parking and much more beach access available on a storm-resilient causeway.
The next Village Council meeting is Thursday, May 14.
