LEE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A routine patrol quickly turned into a life-saving mission for a Florida deputy on Sunday when he jumped into action to save three girls struggling in a perilous rip current.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said that while patrolling the picturesque Lovers Key State Park, deputies received emergency calls reporting that the girls were in distress and unable to reach the shore.
According to the report, without a moment’s hesitation, Deputy Raymond Tellez Ferriol plunged into the turbulent waters equipped with flotation devices.

In a display of bravery and quick thinking, he successfully swam out to the girls, ensuring their safe return to dry land.
“Deputy Tellez Ferriol didn’t hesitate to act, and because of his bravery and quick response, three young lives were brought safely back to shore,” said Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “I’m proud of the courage and selflessness our deputies show every day.”
