Two young men and two teenage boys are facing premeditated murder and attempted murder charges in connection with a double shooting in North Lauderdale that killed one man and injured another.
About 1 a.m. Friday, someone called 911 to report a shooting near the 7900 block of Southwest Seventh Court. Deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue found O’Mari Doe, 19, inside of a 2020 Ford Mustang, and he had been shot multiple times, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Tuesday.
A second man, Maurice Vorroto, 20, of Coconut Creek, was found outside the car. He had been shot once, the news release said.
Doe was taken in a helicopter to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead. Vorroto was taken to the same hospital in Deerfield Beach by paramedics and was expected to recover.
The suspects were identified as Aamir Adams, 19, of Pompano Beach; Anthony Adams, 18, of Fort Lauderdale; and two minor boys, ages 15 and 16, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Aamir and Anthony Adams and the two teenage boys had arrived in the 7900 block of Southwest Seventh Court in a black Honda Accord, and armed with handguns, got out and shot multiple times into the Mustang that Doe, Vorotto and two others were inside. The suspects then drove away from the scene, the news release said.
A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued for the Honda, and a Fort Lauderdale Police officer later found it, leading to a pursuit, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspects at some point during the pursuit jumped out of the car and ran away in the 900 block of Southwest 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale. All four were found and arrested, and investigators also took guns from inside the car, the news release said.
The Sheriff’s Office did not identify the two other alleged victims or the two teenage boys who are facing charges.
Aamir and Anthony Adams and the minors face one count each of first-degree premeditated murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder, among others.
