CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK)— WINK News brought its listening tour back to Cape Coral, giving viewers a chance to sit down with the team and talk about what matters most to them.
The event covered everything from growth and traffic concerns to hurricane recovery and insurance questions.
WINK News anchor Jillian Haggerty was there and said events like this help the station better understand the people and communities they cover.
“I just love everybody,” said Chuck Mueller, a resident who attended.
Mueller said he watches everything and thinks the listening event is a great idea.
“Just being able to raise whenever they want to is the main thing because once it gets more than our checks what do we do?” said Christine Chabot, a resident.
Chabot turned to WINK for help after living in North Fort Myers for more than 11 years.
“If we have to move we want to because it’s our decision not because we are forced,” Chabot said.
The event brought viewers face-to-face with the reporters and anchors they see every day.
It was a chance for people to share their concerns, ask questions and talk about the issues impacting their lives.
Several people said they appreciated the opportunity to connect one-on-one with the WINK News team.
“Just to come out and meet everybody and I got a chance to meet Russ and he’s great. I just want to come out and see everything and meet everybody,” Mueller said.
