TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s golf team fought through multiple stoppages due to heavy rainfall in second round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional to remain in 11thplace on Tuesday at Seminole Legacy Golf Club. 

The Vaqueros were about five holes into their second round when storms rolled through the area forcing everyone off the course. Later, heavy rains stopped play again with water accumulating on the greens. The Vaqueros first group teed off at 8:55 a.m. (ET) with their last group finishing around 7:30 p.m. (ET). 

 

The Vaqueros finished the day with a second round 337 as the sit in front of Little Rock by four strokes with a two-round total of 638.

 

Sophomores Zoe Hobbs and Miriam Barcalova are tied for 53rd with a two-round total of 158. Hobbs carded a second round 85 while Barcalova posted a second round 81. 

 

Sophomore Pitchayapa Pungpho is tied for 56th with a two-round total of 159 after a second round 84. Junior Natalia Rodriguez is in 62nd with a two-round total of 163 after a second round 87 and sophomore Kieli Saenz is in 66th with a second round 87. 

 

No. 3 Florida remains in the lead through two rounds with a total of 571 after a second round 288. ULM’s Johanna Sjursesn holds the individual lead with a two-round total of 136. 

 

The Vaqueros will wrap up the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Wednesday with their first group teeing off at 8:55 a.m. (ET).
