ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Historic Gas Plant District’s future, affordable housing, and jobs were some of the issues St. Petersburg residents talked about at a town hall meeting Tuesday night.
Organizers of the community voices town hall meeting said the goal was to identify some of the public’s top priorities and come up with a strategy to make their voices heard.
The Gas Plant district redevelopment process is in the middle of a 30-day public input period.
St. Pete resident Whitney Buchmann said she’d like to see housing addressed in final plans.
“A lot of folks were displaced in their housing to begin with because of the influx in changes and the economy,” she said. “Housing prices have risen, and a lot of locals are being priced out. So, making sure that there’s affordable housing.”
The city is considering four proposals for redevelopment of the district.
