TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -A Tallahassee woman has been arrested on multiple fraud charges, according to arrest papers.
Police say Caycee Gilbert was involved in at least two fraud cases involving two elderly women.
According to arrest papers, one victim, an 81-year-old woman, had her identity stolen after mail was taken from her home.
The woman’s daughter told police that last March, she noticed her mother’s mailbox open and mail scattered on the ground. She also said she found a Belk credit card bill in her mother’s name with an outstanding balance of over $3,000.
Arrest papers show that the daughter told police she had to take her mother, who has dementia, out shopping, and she had not taken her to Belk in years.
The victim told police that only her daughter should have access to her cards and accounts.
The woman’s daughter gave police mail addressed to her mother for various store credit cards, including Home Depot and Sam’s Club.

A JCPenney card in the victim’s name had also been compromised, and a series of charges, totaling almost $5,000, were made.
Police were able to identify Gilbert using the fraudulent cards on surveillance cameras at several stores. Video also showed Gilbert reaching into the victim’s mailbox, according to arrest papers.
During the investigation, a separate report of fraudulent use of information was made. This time, the victim was an 84-year-old woman. A family member reported the woman had gotten several credit card denial letters in the mail.
In March 2024, the woman tried to use her Sam’s Club credit card, but it was declined. She was informed that the card had been reported lost or stolen, and a new card had been mailed to an address previously identified as Gilbert’s.
Fraudulent charges had been made on the new Sam’s Club card, totalling around $1,500.
When police spoke to Gilbert, she denied stealing mail or using fraudulent cards, but later admitted to using the cards, saying they were not fraudulently obtained.
According to arrest papers, a search of Gilbert’s porch revealed mail belonging to at least ten other people.
Gilbert was arrested and charged with four counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information (victim over 60), five counts of unlawful possession of a stolen credit card, organized scheme to defraud, three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, dealing in credit cards of another, and grand theft.
