Detectives say David Reitmeyer, 75, was the director of information technology at the school. He has been terminated from employment.
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A staff member at a private school in Pinellas County has been arrested on child porn charges.
Investigators say they were notified that child pornography files were being accessed and shared through the internet, eventually learning that those files were of children under eight years old.
Detectives say they identified the suspect as David Reitmeyer, 75, from Safety Harbor.
Reitmeyer was the director of information technology at Countryside Christian Academy, according to the sheriff’s office. He has been terminated from employment, and the school has reportedly been cooperative throughout the investigation.
Authorities confirmed that there’s no indication of Reitmeyer participating in illegal activity while on the school’s property.
On Thursday, the sheriff’s office said Reitmeyer was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on nine counts of possession of child pornography.
An investigation is ongoing.
