A severe collision between a cement truck and a taxicab on the Interstate 595 westbound offramp to southbound Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale left seven people injured, including one child, on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred when the taxi cab came to a stop in the outside lane of the ramp, causing the front of the oncoming cement truck to strike the rear of the taxi. Visual evidence from Chopper 6 and Sky 10 recorded at approximately 3:15 p.m. showed both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the cement truck also colliding into a concrete barrier wall.
Emergency response teams mobilized to the scene to treat the victims and manage the aftermath. According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials, five of the injured individuals, consisting of four adults and the child, were classified as trauma alerts due to the severity of their injuries and were immediately transported to the trauma center at Broward Health Medical Center.
Two other adults involved in the crash sustained minor injuries, as reported by Broward Fire officials. While authority figures noted that two of the transported victims were in critical condition, they are expected to survive the injuries sustained during the collision.

The incident caused major traffic disruptions as regional teams closed the westbound I-595 ramp to southbound I-95. The closure remained in place for several hours while investigation crews documented the crash site and hazardous materials teams worked to contain and clean up fuel that leaked from the damaged cement truck.
