ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The FAA issued an advisory Thursday that there were delays up to 160 minutes for departures to Orlando International Airport.
The advisory also said that there wouldn’t be a sufficient amount of air traffic controllers available to handle incoming flights.
Shortly after the advisory, the FAA revised its statement, saying that staffing levels had been adjusted to compensate for the later incoming flights.
“The MCO ground delay program has been revised up due to an increase in staffing for f11 Central Florida tracon,” the advisory said.
GOAA Director of Strategic Communications Angela Starke released a statement on the delays, saying, “The FAA has issued a ground delay for Orlando International Airport due to FAA staffing issues. The ground delay program has reduced the rate of arrivals at the airport and passengers may experience delays on average of 2 1/2 hours. Please contact your airline for individual flight information. We appreciate your patience during this busy travel period.”
