SPOKANE, Wash. — Police arrested a Spokane man in Florida on Tuesday for possessing child sex abuse material, according to Spokane Police Department.
On October 28, police arrested 38-year-old Tyrone Lee Cliff in Ruskin, Florida on seven first-degree felony charges of possession of material depicting sexual abuse of children.
In August, detectives in Florida received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a person downloading child sex abuse material. An investigation found Cliff had downloaded the material on a device, originally registered to a home in Spokane.
As detectives prepared to serve a search warrant at Cliff’s Spokane home, they learned he had recently moved to Ruskin, Florida.
According to SPD, Cliff taught at a “local religious school” when he lived in Spokane. Cliff’s LinkedIn profile says he was a student at Moody Bible Institute.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said, prior to living in Spokane, Cliff owned a martial arts studio in the Tampa Bay area starting in 2015.
Police arrested cliff on an out-of-state extradition warrant. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail where he is awaiting extradition back to Spokane.
The case will be prosecuted by the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to Cliff’s arrest can call Special Agent Sean McEntee at (800)-226-1140.
