Florida gas prices fell 20 cents last week.
As of Sunday, the state average for a gallon or regular unleaded fuel went from $4.43 per gallon to $4.23 per gallon, according to AAA.
Those prices are still higher than the $3.06 per gallon consumers paid around this time last year.
“Memorial Day travelers will pay about $17 more than last year to fill an average sized tank of gas,” said AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins.
The Iran conflict and concerns about the global supply have kept the pressure up on fuel prices. The state had reached a four-year high of $4.50 on May 7.
Jenkins said this could last through the summer unless the conflict is resolved.
There is a chance state prices could jump this week based on recent gains in the oil market, according to AAA.
As of Monday morning, prices had fallen back even more statewide with the lowest price in Central Florida found in Lake County at $4.12 a gallon followed by $4.15 in Seminole and Brevard, $4.16 in Osceola and Orange, $4.22 in Polk and $4.24 in Volusia County.
The most expensive markets are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($4.42), Gainesville ($4.36) and Tallahassee ($4.32).
The least expensive markets are Pensacola ($4.07), Panama City ($4.09) and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($4.09).
