Allegiant Airlines announced this week it will add eight nonstop routes from Florida cities, including four from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The move comes weeks after Dania Beach-based discount airline Spirit shut down after struggling with spiking fuel prices as it tried to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Spirit had served nearly 25% of the travelers at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, accounting for about 2.3 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026.

The new Allegiant routes will start in fall 2026, with a limited offer of one-way fares as low as $59.

“We’re excited to announce these new routes and believe it is an important time for Allegiant to increase travel options in these markets,”  Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer, said in a prepared statement. “Our mission is to offer service where it is needed most, and these additions ensure that affordable fares can remain available to consumers despite industry changes.”
