Cape Coral ranked third nationwide for the highest foreclosure rate in the third quarter of 2025, according to ATTOM’s latest U.S. Foreclosure Market Report. One in every 589 housing units in the city had a foreclosure filing, trailing only Lakeland and Columbia, South Carolina. Statewide, Florida had the nation’s worst foreclosure rate, with one in every 814 housing units affected and 8,909 properties starting the foreclosure process last quarter. Nationally, 101,513 properties had foreclosure filings in the third quarter, up less than 1% from the previous quarter and 17% from a year ago.
