Law enforcement is reminding boaters ahead of Memorial Day weekend to check their equipment, charge their devices and always have a reliable way to call for help.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Two men are safe after Hillsborough County deputies found them stranded on the waters of Cockroach Bay in the early morning hours.
Deputies responded around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to a disabled white boat after its battery died. The men’s phone died too, making it more difficult to call for emergency responders.
Footage shows HCSO Aviation units spotting the boat in the water and directing Marine units where to find them.
Once deputies arrived to the boat, they were able to tow it back to a nearby boat ramp.
With the Memorial Day weekend approaching, law enforcement is reminding those who may choose to go out on a boat to check their equipment, charge their devices and always have a reliable way to call for help before heading out on the water.
