TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A jury deliberated for about an hour Wednesday before finding Tony Balcom guilty as charged in the 2023 death of three-year-old Enrique Evans.
Balcom was convicted of aggravated manslaughter of a child and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The toddler’s mother, Cameren Evans, was found guilty of the same charge earlier this year and is serving a 19-year prison sentence.

Little Enrique Evans was found unresponsive in Balcom’s Roberts Avenue apartment back on January 23, 2023.
The medical examiner later discovered the child had ingested a lethal dose of fentanyl, which prosecutors argued Balcom failed to secure in his room.
There were initially mistrials declared in the trials of both Balcom and Evans. Each was retried separately and found guilty in the toddler’s death.
